This is very interesting. Have a quick read:
It shows how alliances and collaborations can form in response to the perceived growth of competing interests and other alliances.
Japan and the US have chosen to distance themselves from the AIIB so aligning themselves in this respect.
This has encouraged the AIIB and ADB to come closer together and form and develop their own alliance.
There is, of course, no actual conflict between the two groupings, but the relationships between them will need to be that much more carefully managed from now on.
All the players mentioned above need to keep the following principle of collaborative working in mind as they continue to develop closer cooperation with their chosen partners (and the boundaries between the differently aligned countries and organisations become increasingly defined):
